ChildOS is used by childcare Centers to support young children's development. Because we handle children's information, we apply heightened protections and limit data to what is necessary.
1. COPPA & parental consent
Where the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act applies, the Center collects children's information and is responsible for obtaining verifiable parental consent. ChildOS processes that information only to provide the childcare/educational service and never for behavioral advertising.
2. FERPA / school-linked records
When ChildOS is used in connection with educational records, we act as a "school official"/service provider with a legitimate educational interest, using data only for the contracted purpose and under the Center's direction.
3. Data minimization
We collect only what is needed to track development and communicate with families — we do not collect data "just in case." Sensitive fields are limited and access-controlled.
4. No sale, no child profiling for ads
We do not sell children's data and do not use it to build advertising profiles or target children.
5. Parental access & control
Parents may review and correct their child's information, manage media/photo permissions, and request deletion through their Center.
6. Security & access
Children's records are protected with role-based access, encryption, and audit logging so only authorized adults can view them.
7. Retention
Children's data is retained only as long as needed for the service or as directed by the Center, then securely deleted.
